Hazarat Musleh Maud(ra) said. “So, to claim a sacrifice that the person himself cannot fulfill, and from which I too cannot derive any benefit, is like saying, ‘I measure a hundred yards, but cannot tear even one.’ Therefore, if the Jama’at truly wishes to offer sacrifice, it is essential that the environment be prepared first—and this cannot be done without involving women and children. That is why I had said that the area next to the mosque, which was previously allocated for women, should now be prepared again for them—so that they may hear how desperately the Jamaat needs their support in making sacrifices. If the progress of the Jamaat is hindered due to an inability to offer sacrifices, then the responsibility falls upon the women. There are many men—myself included—whose pockets are left completely empty after meeting the expenses of their wives and children, resulting in a state that truly reflects the Persian proverb: ‘When the need arises for money, mere speech becomes meaningless.’ Even if such men intend to make a sacrifice, they cannot—because they simply have nothing left. Generally, most of the household expenses are due to women and children, except in the case of a miser who deprives them or does not care for their comfort. But what can we expect from such a person anyway? Thus, for sacrifice, we are heavily dependent on the cooperation of women. Otherwise, our sacrifice will remain a sacrifice in name only. Therefore, I especially draw the attention of women toward making sacrifices and assisting men in the matters I will outline ahead. Without their cooperation, any man who wishes to sacrifice will be compelled to reduce their expenses by force—leading not only to their deprivation of reward, but also to discord in the home.”
