Tahrike Jadid Dafatir
DAFATIR (PHASES) OF TAHRIK-E-JADID
Tahrik-e-Jadid was initially established as a temporary scheme for a period of three years.
Tahrik-e-Jadid was initially extended to ten years, and therefore the first Daftar (batch) of Tahrik-e-Jadid spanned the period from 1934 to 1944. It included the first 5,000 Mujahideen—those who pledged to participate in the scheme for the propagation of Islam Ahmadiyyat.
However, as it continued to produce remarkable spiritual and financial fruits year after year, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II (ra) extended it further. On its nineteenth anniversary, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II (ra) announced:
“Now that nineteen years are coming to an end, I have decided that Tahrik-e-Jadid will continue up to your last breaths.”

Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II (ra) subsequently established a system of Dafatir (phases/batches). Explaining the structure, he stated:
“I have decided that Tahrik-e-Jadid should be organized in such a manner that each Daftar should be divided into two terms… the duration of each being nineteen years. Members who join later should continue to participate in these 19-year terms. I do not want to change this period because of the wisdom which lies in the figure 19, as put forth by myself.”

Daftar Shasham — The Sixth Phase
In his Friday Sermon of November 3, 2023, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aba) explained the historical progression of the Dafatir. He stated that approximately 5,000 people initially made sacrifices under Tahrik-e-Jadid and became part of Daftar Awwal. After ten years, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II (ra) established Daftar Daum and prescribed a 19-year period for each subsequent Daftar.
Thereafter:
Daftar Awwal → Daftar Daum → Daftar Siwam → Daftar Chaharam → Daftar Panjam → Daftar Shasham
Upon completion of the 19-year period of Daftar Panjam, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aba) announced the establishment of Daftar Shasham, stating that all new members and children should now be categorized under Daftar Shasham.
The Continuing Legacy
The history of Tahrik-e-Jadid demonstrates a remarkable continuity of sacrifice across generations. What began in 1934 as a temporary three-year scheme has developed into a permanent and worldwide movement of financial and spiritual sacrifice.
1934 → 1944 → 1965 → 1985 → 2004 → 2023 → onward
The establishment of Daftar Shasham represents not merely the beginning of another phase, but the continuation of a legacy of sacrifice that has now extended across more than nine decades.
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV(rh), Huzur(aba) urged the families of the five thousand individuals who made immense sacrifices in the first daftar (1934 to 1953) of the scheme to continue to pay on their behalf and to never let their ‘accounts’ close. Huzur(aba) explained that Allah has subsequently greatly endowed these families and it should be fairly easy for them to continue to pay on behalf of their elders. Huzur(aba) said Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV(rh) had reinstated 3,400 such accounts but some have since fallen behind. He urged families to pay directly to Rabwah so that a record can be maintained. Huzur(aba) also said that Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV(rh) had taken personal responsibility of 1000 old accounts at the rate of Rupees 5 each, and had pledged that his family would continue the tradition. Huzur(aba) directed that he was given details of the remainder unclaimed ‘old accounts’ and that he would take responsibility of these and hoped that in future his family is enabled to carry it on.
